ISNHS Intramurals 2025, Kick-Off

Intramurals refers to activities or competitions that occurs within the school competed only within the student body. Annualy, the Ilocos Sur National High School celebrates its Intramurals with the theme, “Kakayahang Walang Kapantay: Lakas at Determinasyon Tungo sa Tagumpay ng Bagong Henerasyon”, at September 4-7, 2025.

It started with the Opening Remarks of Principal IV of ISNHS, G. Editha C. Bagcal. “Simulan ang ating intramurals 2025 na may saya ang puso’t isipan. Bawat laro ay may mananalo at matatalo ngunit kailangan nating tanggapin ang anumang resulta nito,”

The program began with a vibrant parade attended by athletes and coaches from all grade levels — from Grade 7 to Grade 12. As part of the festivities, the Ms. and Mr. Intramurals 2025 was held, where representatives from each grade level showcased their respective strand and grade-level colors, modeled their sports attire, and demonstrated their wit and intelligence during the Q&A portion. It was such a nice experience-running back and forth from the gym up to the changing room of the contestants just to support the male candidate of Garde 10 from our section, 10-MARTINELLI, Jacob Cyrus Amorin.

Afterwards, we’ve proceeded to help, and voluntary facilitate into the e-sports games held at the stage in the field. There we’ve witnessed the scattered finger sleeves, baby powders, tangled cables, sweat in each players forehead, trembling of their hands, and fear in their eyes as they focused on the game and eliminating their enemies to advance to the next round.

At the same time, we are also there as a support system to our fellow friends in their competition as they fight in the e-sports game, Call of Duty. Thus, supporting them until they became champion.

On the other hand, I’ve also seen the calmness, timing, precision, and prediction of the billiard players. Unlike high-intensity sports, billiards emphasizes precision, focus, and mental calculation, making it a favorite among students who enjoy tactical challenges. It fosters sportsmanship, patience, and concentration, offering a unique space where quiet confidence and steady hands truly shine.

I’ve also took a sneak-peak on the boxing fight held in front of the HUMMS building, where they throw powerful punches, impeccable dodges, showcase unmatchable strength, incredible coordination and timing, long-lasting stamina, and respect to the sports and their opponent. Indeed, boxing may seem intense to many, but in a school setting, it’s carefully managed to emphasize personal growth over aggression. It teaches students to channel energy constructively, face challenges head-on, and respect boundaries—both physical and emotional.

Intramurals taught me that sports aren't just about winning—they're about teamwork, support, discipline, and discovering strengths we didn’t know we had. Seeing each grade level and teacher cheer for their teams reminded me how powerful unity can be. During this year’s intramurals, aside from realizing how sports can bring people together. I’ve also witnessed the joy and excitement in each players eyes, their dedication on the field they step unto, how they play the sports they like-something they are passionate about, and that’s something I’ve witnessed beyond the four walls of a classroom. Whether we were cheering from the sidelines, observing silently, or competing on the court, we were all part of something bigger than ourselves.
